Mason Owen recruits Barker as department head

Mason Owen has appointed Steve Barker as head of its building consultancy team.

Barker brings more than 40 years of experience to the new role and will be based at the property consultancy’s office in Liverpool.

“I have been given an exciting opportunity to develop the existing Building Consultancy Section within a respected, dynamic and long established firm. I am looking forward to the challenge of using my personal experience and skills to build on the Section’s successes.”

Barker’s experience spans building control, design of refurbishment and new build schemes and maintenance and alteration of a full range of properties and estates including commercial, education and health trusts as well as being the lead building surveying consultant to Manchester City Council.

As well as being a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Association of Building Engineers, he is a registered Construction Design and Management co-ordinator and a registered access consultant with the National Register of Access Consultants and RICS.

Barker was national president of the Association of Building Engineers between 1999 and 2000 and the founding chairman of the Party Wall Pyramus and Thisbe Club.

His current projects at Mason Owen include the project management of the D&B contact to move Liverpool Football Club and TV studio into its new location on three floors in 20 Chapel Street Liverpool.

Established in 1967, Mason Owen also has offices in Chester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
