Marston’s buys Ewloe site for pub roll-out

Harrow Estates, the commercial development arm of Redrow, has sold a 1.3-acre site at St David's Park in Flintshire to Marston's Inns & Taverns.

The managed house division of Marston's, the country's largest independent pub and brewery group, paid an undisclosed price for the site and will build a family pub restaurant, one of more than 60 currently being built by Marston's Inns & Taverns.

Adrian Lewis, development director of Harrow Estates, said: "We are delighted that Marston's have decided to build a pub/restaurant at St David's Park and their decision is a further endorsement of this very successful mixed use development. The pub will be an excellent amenity for local families and businesses at St David's Park."

Planning permission has already been granted for the development and work is due to start within the next two weeks. The pub will open later this year.

Adrian Blackburn, acquisitions manager of Marston's, said: "We are really excited about the prospect of developing our latest concept at St David's Park – now the hard work starts to deliver a top quality pub restaurant for local residents, families and nearby office workers in Ewloe.

"The aim is to provide up to 55 new permanent full and part-time jobs at the pub restaurant and provide a range of menus and drinks, including our award winning cask ales, which will be on offer to customers when we first open the doors in late summer."
