Liverpool launch event for Shanghai 2010 prospectus

Liverpool Vision and the city council are unveiling plans at an event later this month for the city's place at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.

Liverpool and London are the only UK cities with stands – called pavilions – at the Shanghai 2010, which runs for six months from the start of May to the end of October.

The city's official prospectus will be launched at the forthcoming event on Tuesday 31 March at the Novas Contemporary Urban Centre.

Cllr Warren Bradley, leader of Liverpool City Council, Colin Hilton, council chief executive, and Mike Taylor, director of investment at Liverpool Vision, will all be speaking at the event.

Vision and the council have a year to drum up considerable private sector support needed to make the Expo expedition a success. The target for sponsorship is estimated to be £2m. Just six private sponsors are at MIPIM with Liverpool this week, paying £4,000 each, compared to 27 companies last year.
