LEP cash to kick-start stalled developments

Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership has been awarded £13.1m from the Government's Growing Places Fund.

The fund is jointly administered by the Department for Communities & Local Government and Department for Transport.

The main aims of the fund are to invest in infrastructure, fund LEPs to deliver their economic strategies and helped revive stalled projects.

Christine Gaskell, director of Bentley Motors and chairman of Cheshire & Warrington LEP, said: "This is a great opportunity to kick-start stalled projects in the sub-region. We are very keen to help bring forward employment and residential developments and this programme should make a real difference to our development partners."

The LEP is now working with partners in Ellesmere Port, Chester, Weaver Valley, Warrington, Macclesfield and Crewe to identify projects that will meet the funding criteria. Suitable projects outside these priority regeneration areas locations will be considered also.
