Law firm, Goldsmith Williams, has signed a lease for 10 years on 13,000 sq ft with Canmoor on the fourth floor of 20 Chapel Street.
Goldsmith Williams will relocate its 165 staff from Mersey Chambers later this year. The firm’s Liverpool office has been located at Mersey Chambers for 15 years. The firm has now sold Mersey Chambers, located around the corner from 20 Chapel Street next to St Nicholas’s Church and gardens.
In February, serviced office provider Orega said it would occupy 18,000 sq ft at 20 Chapel Street, which totals 155,000 sq ft completed a decade ago but has never been fully let.
Adele Whittle, director of operations at Goldsmith Williams, said: “The move is very much a natural progression for us as a growing, modern practice. We have adopted some of the most contemporary ways of working out of any law firm in the country – from agile working for our staff to technological systems like our nationally-used case management tool GWlive that enable 24/7 access to cases – so of course it was only logical to find a 21st century space to reflect that.
“20 Chapel Street provides just that. It is a delight to announce this exciting news and we look forward to welcoming our loyal clients to our new, custom-built office soon.”
Sam Walker, director at Canmoor which purchased the freehold of 20 Chapel Street in June last year, said: “We have signed up a number of new occupiers in recent weeks, as well as re-gearing leases with existing occupiers who are keen to stay at 20 Chapel Street.
“Progress is also being made on the new enhanced reception area, which has recently commenced works on-site with completion due in late June and we also look forward to announcing the operator for the new café in the coming weeks.”
Worthington Owen was retained to carry out the search for Goldsmith Williams’ new office.
