ITV re-open talks over Media City ‘package’

Peel Media has confirmed talks with ITV over a proposed move to Media City in Salford Quays have re-opened, following a halt to discussions in March last year.

As reported in the Guardian newspaper, Bryan Gray, the chairman of the site's developers, Peel Media, reiterated: "ITV have a particular requirement in Coronation Street. I can confirm that we've offered them a package."

Last year, ITV blamed the scaling back of incentives for the decision to halt talks. A cleared site next to the Imperial War Museum North had been reserved by Peel for ITV, putting it across the water from the new BBC offices.

The move would mean the set used for the popular ITV soap, Coronation Street, located at Granada Television Studios in Quay Street, being demolished and rebuilt at Media City UK.

WHR and Cushman & Wakefield are joint letting agents at the high-profile 5m sq ft scheme.
