Globe Construction folds

New contractors will have to be found for 20 projects across the North West after Warrington-based construction company Globe Management Services went into administration.

Lindsey Cooper and Diana Frangou from Baker Tilly have been appointed joint administrators to Globe Management Services and its parent company, Aprilis Holdings. A further group company, Globe Construction Management, is expected to enter creditors' voluntary liquidation shortly.

The companies, which are headquartered in Trident Business Park, have ceased to trade with immediate effect and around 60 employees have been made redundant. A small number of staff members have been retained in the short term to help the administrators carry out their duties.

The administrators have appointed quantity surveying firm Naismiths to review the ongoing building projects, which are for a range of private and public sector clients.

Globe Construction was named earlier this week as contractor on SchemeGlobal Properties' £2.5m apartment scheme at Calderstones Park in Liverpool.

Globe recently completed the 24,000 sq ft headquarters for Golden Gates Housing Trust in Warrington, and the construction of a new home for the St Andrew's Methodist Church in Rochdale as part of the £250m regeneration of the town centre.

Lindsey Cooper, restructuring and recovery partner at Baker Tilly, said: "The financial issues faced by the business were such that the directors had little choice but to place the companies into administration. Regrettably, we have had to make around 60 staff redundant, and our specialist employee team has been assisting them to make claims with the redundancy payments office."

• Construction of Villa Medical Centre in Prenton
• Extension works to a mental health facility in Ruabon, North Wales
• £1.2m workshop for Blackburn Council
• A £1.3m social housing scheme in Wallasey
