Courtyard Brick View 01

GALLERY | YPG unveils Magistrates Court hotel

Developer YPG is set to convert the former Magistrates Court and fire station on Liverpool’s Dale Street into a four-star, 90-bed boutique hotel.

The five-storey grade two-listed building is set to be comprehensively overhauled to feature suites in the former magistrates’ and judges’ offices, as well as themed rooms in the former cells.

There will also be a public bar and restaurant fronting on to Dale Street, a residents’ gym, a landscaped courtyard garden, and a series of function rooms on the first floor taking in the former courtrooms.

The designs put forward by YPG will see some of the one and two-storey outriggers demolished to free up space in the building, which is described as “exceedingly complex and dense” and “disorientating and awkward to navigate” in its present state.

A large glazed entrance and reception will run through to the central garden, using the former carriageway to the courtyard.

Possible uses for the function rooms in the former courtrooms include a wedding venue, a conference facility, a lecture theatre, and space for networking events.

YPG is acting as both architect and developer for the scheme.

If you’ve seen that shocker they have put up opposite the Kings Dock you can rest assured the finished version will look nothing like these images.

BDAY – its a conversion not a new build. No comparison.

Anonymous you have mis-understood the point. The CGI’s always look good refurb or new build, sadly the finished product doesn’t when they down spec the final product.

Certainly adds to Dale Street! With the former ‘Municipal’ on target for a luxury-end hotel the liveliness should spread along the length of both Victoria Street and Dale Street to St. George’s….The WHS core being connected right through! Just need to solve all the crossings and pedestrian routes at the top and it’ll be lovely!

I think Kings Dock apartments will look fantastic and really add something to the area when finished
