X1 The Plaza New Render Oct 17

Fresh designs revealed for X1’s The Plaza

X1 is proposing changes to the facade and balconies of the £34m The Plaza development in Manchester, which is currently being built by Forrest.

An application has been submitted to Manchester City Council which shows substantial changes to the building’s planned façade, which was approved  in December 2015.

DK Architects has updated the building’s façade and balconies as part of the redesign for the 10-storey building, which will provide 201 homes on Advent Way in Ancoats. Click below to enlarge images.

Forrest has been on site since September 2016.

It represents the second phase of X1’s wider Eastbank development, the first phase of was which completed by Forrest last year and houses 111 apartments.

The Plaza is one of a number of X1 projects currently being built by Forrest, which is also on site at the developer’s The Gateway and The Landmark developments, both in Greater Manchester.

New design looks much better!

I’m sure that X1 pulled the same stunt with X1 Media City. They looked decent at the proposal stage, they built the majority of the structure then made an ‘amendment’ to the facade. Now it looks absolutely horrendous. How do they keep getting away with it?!

Eh….. What are you on about? The new design looks much better.

The cladding is much better. The wall has got worse.

Admittedly parts of the design are more refined but the street interaction has got far worse and is almost akin to prison.
