Discussion looks at impact of Liverpool One

Grosvenor's £1bn Liverpool One is the topic of discussion at next week's construction best practice club event in the new Hilton Liverpool, located in the city centre.

The 42-acre Liverpool One, which opened last year, was shortlisted for this year's RIBA Stirling Prize and was constructed by Laing O'Rourke.

The seminar will ask questions such as what were the challenges in setting up and constructing such a huge and complicated project? What are the issues now that the dust has settled?

Guest speakers include:

  • Guy Butler – Grosvenor, developer
  • Graham Flynn – Laing O'Rourke, constructor
  • Marcus McGee – General manager, Liverpool Hilton, tenant

The new Hilton Liverpool, located in Thomas Steers Way within Liverpool One, opened to guests last week with £1m of forward bookings already secured.

Specialist hotel investor the Ability Group acquired the 215-room hotel and 40 apartments on three upper floors from Grosvenor for an undisclosed sum in September 2007. Ability pays Hilton a management fee and a share of profits above an agreed level.

The event next week will be rounded off by a short tour of the new hotel for those who are interested, as well as a festive drink.

The event is being held at the new Liverpool Hilton on Thursday 3 December from 6pm.
