DBS Pochin clears way for Middlewich expansion

The joint venture between DB Symmetry and Pochin’s expects to compete for 300,000 sq ft-plus requirements after signing an option agreement for a further 69 acres next to its flagship logistics park MA6NITUDE.

The land is currently in private ownership, and is already allocated as employment space. It lies immediately to the east of the existing site. Ecologists have been instructed to undertake surveys ahead of a planning application being submitted this year.

Daniel Burn, director at MA6NITUDE, said: “This agreement will allow us to readily respond to requirements of over 300,000 sq ft, which are becoming more prevalent due to the continued growth in e-commerce.

“Coupled with the strategic location close to junction 18 of the M6, we are confident that the site will attract strong demand once a planning consent has been secured.”

In February, DBS Pochin received planning approval to build 190,000 sq ft of industrial and distribution accommodation which it is proposing to develop on a speculative basis.

The JV’s ambitions for this plot has expanded beyond a previously mooted 160,000 sq ft on the back of government approval for the £58m Middlewich bypass.

Burn concluded: “With a shortage of large stock and land supply in the Cheshire region, we find ourselves in a strong position to bring forward quality employment land which can contribute significantly to the local economy.”
