CPA appoints Turley Associates director as vice chairman

Paul Singleton, lead director for Turley Associates' compulsory purchase order and land assembly work, has been elected as vice chairman of the Compulsory Purchase Association.

Sigleton is the only planning consultant serving on the national committee.

The CPO is a fully independent and self-funded organisation that promotes best practice in the promotion of CPOs and the negotiation and settlement of land compensation claims.

Singleton, based in Turley Associates' Manchester office, has been involved in CPO and land assembly work throughout his career and has established a track record as an expert witness in a variety of cases and forums including the Lands Tribunal.

He said: "I am honoured to take up post as vice chairman. Our National Committee is a sounding board for change in this sphere and provides informed responses to various government and other consultations in the area of CPO and land assembly.

"The Association also promotes training initiatives together with opportunities for those engaged in CPO and land compensation work to network and share experience and knowledge, and I am looking forward to continuing our focus on reform and raising professional standards."

In his role as vice chairman Singleton will provide support to the current chairman, Richard Honey, barrister, and will serve until the next AGM in October 2013.

Singleton was originally co-opted to the National Committee of the CPA in 2010 and was re-elected as a member of the National Committee in 2011.
