Planning permission has been granted for a change of use for listed former agricultural buildings in the grounds of Cornish Hall, Wrexham.
The buildings will be converted into five residential dwellings.
Cornish Hall is a grade 2-listed farmhouse with traditional outbuildings dating from the early 17th century, which was remodelled extensively in the 1930s.
Chester-based architect, surveyor and town planner, Cassidy + Ashton, worked with the hall's owner to help secure planning permission and listed-building consent for change of use and conversion of the agricultural buildings.
The residential consent comprises two detached dwellings and three mews properties, each with its own enclosed garden, with a gross internal area of 11,150 sq ft.
Planning permission for change of use from agricultural to residential purposes is unusual as policy does not normally permit conversion to residential dwellings unless commercial or tourism use is proven to be unviable.
Guy Evans, associate planner at Cassidy + Ashton, said: "The updated permitted development rights announced by the government this year make it easier for disused agricultural buildings to be changed to a commercial use; however, these rights do not extend to a residential use.
"It must also be highlighted that the new rights are only applicable in England; hence gaining planning permission for this project in Wales represents an even greater achievement."
The property is currently on the market with joint agents Fisher German and Forge Property Consultants.
