Contract out for Redsun’s Speke development

Redsun Developments has launched a search for a contractor to build four warehouses in Speke, with a contract value of up to £3.8m.

The Liverpool-based developer has designed a scheme of four units at Venture Point to be built to BREEAM 'excellent' standard. The five-acre site was acquired from the Homes & Communities Agency earlier this year.

Liverpool City Council granted planning permission for the first phase of two units totalling 46,000 sq ft in January 2014. Planning approval for a second phase of similar size is expected in the coming months.

Craig Booton, managing director of Redsun, said: "Starting the search for the main contractor is another significant step for us in the delivery of our innovate:speke development. We plan to be on-site in September and are already fielding a number of enquiries from local companies looking for high quality business space. We expect there to be significant interest from the construction industry and look forward to appointing a contractor to deliver our vision for the site."

The developer is in the process of applying for funding through the European Regional Development Fund to assist with the scheme.

The deadline for receipt of tenders is 5 May 2014. The contract is expected to be awarded by August 2014, with start on site scheduled for September.
