City tourism quango advertises £111k of marketing posts

At a time when the public sector is being asked to trim costs, Marketing Manchester, the tourist board for Greater Manchester, is advertising three posts with a combined salary of £111,000 a year.

A director of strategic marketing, on £60,000, is sought to implement 'Brand Manchester' nationally and internationally "through the delivery of a fully integrated marketing approach".

A marketing manager, on £25,500 for a fixed contract until the end of March 2012, will run the Industrial Powerhouse Project, a European Regional Development Fund initiative to "celebrate the Northwest's industrial heritage".

Lastly, for now, a digital content editor, also earning £25,500, is required to help relaunch and manage the VisitManchester.com website.

Sponsors of Marketing Manchester include the North West Development Agency, Manchester Airport, Manchester City Council, Association of Greater Manchester Authorities, Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority and members.
