Cheshire East grants consent for housing on former TA site

Acting on behalf of new Warrington-based developer the House Maker, HOW Planning has secured full planning approval for 75 homes on eight acres at the former Territorial Army Centre in Macclesfield.

Planning officers recommended the planning application be approved subject to conditions and a s106 legal agreement. Members of the council’s Northern Planning Committee followed officers’ advice and resolved to grant planning permission at its meeting this week.

The planning application proposes 75 new homes including a combination, traditional family homes, apartments and an element of affordable housing. Extensive landscaping is an integral part of the scheme including a landscape buffer along the stream corridor which bisects the site and significant landscaping and ecological enhancements to the publicly accessible open space. A new roundabout and pedestrian crossing is also proposed on Chester Road which will provide access to the site and highways and air quality benefits for the wider area.

The former TA centre was empty for a long period of time and has now been demolished and the site cleared to make way for redevelopment.
