Breck progresses pair of Preston schemes

The Blackpool-based developer has partnered with property developer and manager Places for People to deliver 91 homes across two sites on the outskirts of the city.

Breck Homes intends to build 51 homes on a 2.8-acre site off Sandy Lane in Cottam, north-west of Preston city centre, all of which will be available for affordable rent. The homes would be a mix of two- and three-bedroom houses, as well as one-bedroom apartments.

In addition, the developer has lodged plans with Preston City Council to build 40 homes on land off Preston Road in Grimsargh, north-east of the city centre.

Mosaic Town Planning is the planning consultant for the Sandy Lane development and Smith Love Planning Consultants is working on the Grimsargh scheme.

The combined gross development value of the sites exceeds £15m and work is expected to start on site early next year subject to planning approval, according to Breck.

Places for People has agreed a funding package with government agency Homes England to support the projects.

Andy Garnett, Breck’s founder, said “These applications are capping off a busy year for us here at Breck. We have completed several investment acquisitions and these sites are adding to our rapidly growing housing division.”

Breck recently started the delivery of 55 homes in Catterall, Lancashire and the firm is also progressing plans for 210 homes in Thornton Cleveleys near Blackpool.
