Landowner Tarleton Estates has selected the housebuilder to deliver the first 120 units of a wider 830-home masterplan, on land off Bee Fold Lane.
Wigan Council granted outline planning permission to the 76-acre masterplan last year and Bloor Homes is working up detailed proposals for three- and four-bedroom houses, due to be submitted this month.
Subject to gaining approval, construction of the Atherton scheme could start this summer, according to the housebuilder.
The wider site, located south of Atherton town centre, is split into three parcels.
Under Tarleton Estate’s outline consent, the other two parcels include plans for 170 homes, to be accessed via Crab Tree Lane, and proposals for 540 homes accessed from Leigh Road.
