A total of 131 social homes are to be constructed across two plots totalling 9.5 acres within the estate, under plans lodged by the council.
The scheme, which features 101 houses and 30 apartments, is part of Blackpool Council’s Grange Park Estate project, “a whole place-based approach to increasing community resilience to climate change”, according to the authority.
The homes would be managed by Blackpool Coastal Housing and the development has been designed by architect Cassidy + Ashton.
Plot A is recently cleared land located off Chepstow Road. Christ the King Church and a row of shops including a pharmacy and a Chinese takeaway were demolished around two years ago.
This part of the development is to feature 27 two-bedroom homes, nine with three-bedrooms, nine with four bedrooms, and eight with five-bedrooms.
As well as 53 houses, plot A would also include a pocket park in the south west corner of the site, and an area of green space to be used by the neighbouring Boundary Primary School.
Plot B, which fronts Dinmore Avenue to the rear of @thegrange community hub, is earmarked for 78 homes.
A total of 48 are to be houses while 30 properties would be apartments.
A community green and expanded car park serving @thegrange are also mooted for plot B, under the council’s plans.
The scheme will be partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Grange Park is one of the largest council estates in Lancashire with a population of more than 6,000 people.
