Barclays confirms new Altrincham branch

Barclays Bank has confirmed its plans to open a new 8,600 sq ft branch in the Stamford Quarter in Altrincham later this year.

Mike Knowles, associate director of letting agents Savills, said: "We are very pleased to have secured this new 15 year lease with Barclays. It is clearly an exciting development for the centre and will further enhance the facilities available to shoppers within the Stamford Quarter."

Scott Melville, Barclays branch manager in Altrincham, added: "Barclays remains committed to the branch network as demonstrated by the ongoing investment in the refurbishment of branches across the UK – over 800 branches have been refurbished since 2007."

The letting follows the decision by Wilkinson, the discount home and garden retailer, to open a 19,000 sq ft store in the Stamford Quarter and Ladbrokes agreeing to take a further five year lease on its current unit within the 400,000 sq ft centre in Altrincham.

Details of the agreed rent was undisclosed.
