Avison Young hires Emma Berry

Emma Berry, a former asset manager at Bruntwood, has joined Avison Young as director and head of property management for the North West.

During her 14-year career, Berry spent five years as senior asset manager for Manchester-based developer Bruntwood between 2010 and 2016, before moving to CBRE as senior surveyor for asset services, and then to MAPP as associate director in 2018.

She joined Avison Young this month. In her new role, she will be responsible for managing properties for the real estate services firm’s clients, which include the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Moorfield, Liverpool City Council, Ares and West Bromwich Building Society.

Avison Young, which completed its acquisition of GVA in February 2019, manages properties across a range of asset classes and sectors, including offices, retail, leisure, industrial and mixed-use schemes. The year before the acquisition, GVA had acquired Manchester-based consultancy How Planning, which is now known as Avison Young. The subsequent acquisition made Avison Young one of the top five largest commercial real estate advisory businesses in the UK.

Richard Williams, managing director of property management at Avison Young, said: “Emma’s extensive experience and network will enable her to focus on ensuring that the Avison Young name becomes prolific in the North West for client service, occupier experience and innovation.”

Berry added: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Avison Young given its proven capability, but also its ambitious growth plans and relatively new position in the UK market.”
