12 Tithebarn becomes Tempest

Capital & Centric has renamed its 40,000 sq ft office redevelopment in Liverpool city centre.

Tempest hoardingsThe £6m speculative refurbishment of the block is due to complete in the coming weeks.

The 1970s building in Tithebarn Street was acquired by the Manchester-based developer from Derwent Lodge Properties in April 2013 after being left derelict for a number of years.

A £2.4m grant from European Regional Development Fund part-funded the refurbishment project.

Middleton-based fit-out specialist Sustainability Inc is currently on site. The architect for the redesign is SixTwo.

Keppie Massie and CBRE are the agents on the building.

Renaming the building won’t disguise the fact it is Liverpool’s most inefficient and ugly building (and that is some accolade) given the competition. A real shame that the market is not mature and sophisticated enough to justify a proper redevelopment.

Disagree with the "immature market" comment above – nowt wrong with a refurb, and indeed the fact it’s been done as a spec indicates some confidence in the market being there to fill it? Not denying its pretty ugly though.
