Muse puts in for 1.3m sq ft Crewe industrial park

Plans have been submitted to Cheshire East Council for WestonM6, a logistics and business estate spanning 64 acres off David Whitby Way in Basford East.

Muse’s hybrid application for WestonM6 includes detail on its first phase. This would comprise three warehouses totalling 750,000 sq ft. The developer is working alongside landowners The Witter Trust and the Co-Operative on the project.

The proposals build from a consultation on WestonM6 that Muse held in October. Muse said its plans include a wildlife ‘pocket’ park, a 3-kilometre active walking trail, and rich landscaping.

Alan McBride, projects director at Muse, said: “At WestonM6, we’ve worked hard to design a sustainable place that complements the existing neighbourhood being created, unlocks vast areas of greenery to promote a healthy lifestyle, but importantly attracts significant inward investment and meets the demand for new jobs in the town.

“As a business, we’re committed to creating vibrant places that leave a long-lasting positive legacy to benefit communities and at WestonM6 we know we’ll achieve just that and build a brighter future for all in Crewe,” he said.

Muse estimates that WestonM6 will create up to 2,900 jobs, of which 165 would be generated during its construction. WestonM6 could also result in £3.4m in additional business rates revenue for the council, according to Muse.

Aew Architects designed WestonM6 for Muse. CW Studio is the landscape architect. Avison Young is charged with planning, while Hannan Associates is the MEP services engineer. Integra Consulting is the civils, structural, and highways engineer.

The planning application for WestonM6 was not published on the Cheshire East planning portal at the time of publication.
