Mixed-use plans for derelict Bootle site
Wincham Investments has submitted a planning application for the development of 99 homes and a supermarket in Sefton.
The plot is bounded by Hawthorne Road and the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, and is former industrial land that has been used in recent years as an extension of the adjacent Arriva bus depot.
The proposals, which have been put together by the Planning Studio, includes a 25,000 sq ft retail unit with an as-yet unnamed supermarket occupier, alongside a residential development with a mix of 48 apartments and 51 houses, ranging from two- to four-bedrooms. There will be a 139-space car park.
The architect on the scheme is Falconer Chester Hall.
In a planning statement to the council, the Planning Studio said: "The removal of the unsightly existing former industrial buildings and the redevelopment of the site with quality designed new housing and an appropriate scaled retail store will make a positive contribution to the character and appearance of the area – helping to signal its regeneration and boosting local economic and social benefits that will arise from the comprehensive redevelopment of the site."
