Merseyside Police picks Graham for £5m FM deal
Merseyside Police has chosen contractor Graham to deliver a three-year facilities management and reactive repairs framework, worth around £5m.
Graham’s asset management business has been picked for works including reactive maintenance, M&E works, new build and refurbishment works, as part of the force’s ongoing estate rationalisation programme. Graham will also be required to offer proactive servicing of plant and electrical installations across the police’s estate.
The framework will run for an initial three years, with two options to an extend for a further 12 months, meaning it could run for a maximum of five years.
The force is planning wholesale changes to its estate in the coming years, and submitted a planning application earlier this month to move its headquarters to a purpose-built facility in Liverpool.
The 137,000 sq ft Merseyside Police Headquarters on Scotland Road will provide space for up to 1,175 staff across a main four-storey building and a single-storey annex, alongside meeting rooms, a lecture theatre and break-out spaces. Willmott Dixon is main contractor with Ryder Architecture as designer.
The new facility will see Merseyside Police relocate from its current Canning Place HQ, built in the 1970s, and the force said the move would cost £780,000 cheaper than refurbishing the existing building, and would save it £380,000 a year in running costs.
