Manchester Airport seeks vendors in £1.3bn transformation

The final £440m phase of improvements will see 27 shops and restaurants join Terminal Two in summer 2025, with a tender now out for premium brands, artisan cafes, and brasseries.

Previous phases of Manchester Airport’s £1.3bn transformation saw the launch of the first passenger pier and new multi-storey car park in April 2019, as well the opening of the new-look Terminal Two in July 2021.

Manchester Airport’s remodeled Terminal Two will soon feature a champagne bar, market hall, and a new high-street shopping zone, The Avenue.

MAG is currently seeking a mix of regional and national retailers to join the terminal, as well as food and drink vendors, with the view to announcing successful bidders next April.

Other plans for the departure lounge include an additional security hall and new gates.

Richard Jackson, retail director of Manchester Airport, said: “We are well aware that our guests’ holidays start at the airport and we want them to enjoy their time here – whether that means sipping craft beer brewed at the airport in a bar overlooking the airfield, or eating an artisan pizza…

“The first phase of the project saw some exciting brands come on board, but we’re now keen to build on that and provide a more varied and comprehensive retail experience to cater for the tastes of the millions of passengers who will pass through the terminal’s doors.”

Manchester brewers Seven Bro7hers and coffee brand Pot Kettle Black are amongst the vendors already operating there.

Mark Flanagan, owner of Pot Kettle Black, said: “Opening an outlet in Manchester Airport together with our partners HMSHost UK has been an incredible experience…

“Through the branch in the airport we’re reaching customers who come from all over the world, and we’re even seeing international customers visiting our city centre branches because they’ve been to the one in the airport.”

This Glitz will not solve the fundamental problems of Manchester , poor staff culture , bad organisation and just an unpleasant customer experience. Most people I know wood rather use any other airport than Manchester

Wood they…I mean would they?. Are there many other airports locally they could use instead given the number of locations they go to. I mean Gatwick’s a long way to go In the probably vain hope they’ll let you through a bit quicker.

I agree with the previous comment. I landed in Manchester airport onThursday. I waited11/2 hours for a wheel chair.
There are not enough toilets ( the ones they have are not big enough). I think they should introduce golf buggies for the people with mobility issues. You get information only 6 minutes to the gate and various countdowns( yes 6 mins if you are Linford Christie). We can all draw the QE2 but can we get it to float.
Sorry Manchester airport is a nightmare to navigate.

The pain of getting through security means that all these vendors are fighting a losing battle in terms of customer experience
