Liverpool to host water regeneration awards
The last remaining spaces are available for this year's Waterways Renaissance Awards and dinner being held in Liverpool.
Organisers The Waterways Trust and British Urban Regeneration Association expect around 250 guests at Liverpool's Arena and Convention Centre at the end of the month.
Speaking about the annual awards ceremony, Vivien Niblett of The Waterways Trust and BURA said: "The awards recognise those organisations which utilise rivers that bring extra value to other community projects across the regions."
The award categories for this year are:
- Area-based Regeneration
- Community
- Design & Construction – sponsored by Crosby Lend Lease
- Education & Learning
- Historic Environment – sponsored by Peel
- Innovation – sponsored by Halcrow
- Natural Environment – sponsored by Defra
- Partnership – sponsored by Mersey Basin Campaign and Regional Parks Xchange
- Recreation & Tourism – sponsored by Morrison Construction
- Strategy & Masterplanning – sponsored by Arup
Hosting the awards event will be former BBC Political Editor and presenter of BBC News North West Jim Hancock.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday 31 March.
Finalists for the ten categories from the North West includes:

- Irwell City Park, Manchester
- Medlock Valley Project, Manchester
- Tall Ships Race Liverpool 08, Merseyside
- The Saturn Project, Ellesmere, Cheshire
