The company

Tempest Jones is retained by one of the largest not for profit developer and asset management organisations playing a major role in the UK housing market. They are using their experience, scale and financial strength to deliver new homes and communities across the country. These are at a range of price points and tenures from private sale to social rent. Any profits generated are invested back into social purpose.

Recently they have created their own private development company which delivers and markets homes for private sale and leads on land acquisition. They also have a strong track record on regenerating existing estates and breathing new life into communities. Over the next 5 years as part of their major mixed-use development programme across England, they will be close to a million square foot of retail and commercial assets ranging from, community centres and regeneration projects to start up retail and Grade A office units in central London.

Their headline development, at a glance includes but is not limited to:

  • 50,000 new homes to be delivered in the next 10 years
  • £13bn investment in building new homes
  • 14,000 current pipeline
  • Significant land buying capacity

The scheme

The scheme comprises 13 acres of brownfield land between the River Aire and Kirkstall Road in Leeds. The site has existing planning consent for more than 1,000 homes alongside student accommodation to deliver a residential-led mixed-use scheme. The client has commenced a redesign to deliver a residential-led mixed-use scheme to deliver and create a community alongside retail units, space for creative industries and leisure facilities, providing employment opportunities for local people. The overall investment in the scheme will be more than £200m.

The role

The Project Directors role is primarily to lead the redevelopment of a major regeneration project in Leeds City Centre. They will have a strong background in mixed use residential led projects, with a strong understanding of the value drivers in a residential business.

The Project Director will be a leader in residential led mixed use development with a wide range of tenures including affordable housing, private sale, Build-to-Rent and student housing. Underpinning the development will be the creation of a sense of place and destination for the west end of Leeds, supported by retail and commercial uses (including meanwhile). The role can be worked from either their Manchester or Leeds office.

The candidate will ideally have been overseeing either a major mixed use or portfolio of projects with experience through the pre-planning / pre-construction and delivery phases of a project. Ideally they will have had exposure to projects during the post contract phase from a Client perspective. The Project Director will have a pivotal role in being an ambassador for the business alongside ensuring the delivery of all Development obligations in a safe, commercially acceptable and value enhancing way. The Project Director is responsible for ensuring internal advice is validated, accountability is clear and upheld and operations are efficient and effective.

Experience of working across disciplines and leading multi discipline project teams is essential and the role will require experience of successful senior stakeholder management.

For the right candidate they can offer an extremely competitive salary, along with generous car allowance, bonus, family health cover, excellent pension scheme and flexible holidays system.

This is an exciting time to join the company in its time of expansion in the North of England, despite the ongoing pandemic, that not only offers you the opportunity to develop your career but also offers the chance to develop your personal goals within a good work life balance environment.
