Housing march continues in Liverpool
Liverpool City Council is set to approve residential and student accommodation schemes totalling more than 500-bedrooms in the city centre at the planning committee meeting on 23 June.
In the Baltic Triangle, Baltic Developments has submitted plans for the redevelopment of a warehouse site between Norfolk Street, Watkinson Street and Simpson Street. The nine-storey building designed by Falconer Chester Hall would be made up of 100 studio apartments.
The planning application was submitted by Roman Summer Developments.
Baltic Developments has offices registered to Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, with Richard Cowman listed as a director on Companies House.
Meanwhile, student accommodation proposals by Elliot Group for a vacant plot by Chatham Place have been recommended for approval. Also designed by Falconer Chester Hall, the three-winged building ranges from between three and six storeys, totalling 399 student rooms made up of 73 cluster units and 25 studio apartments.
The 1.2-acre parcel of land is close to the Liverpool University and Liverpool John Moores University campuses, and was the location of the St Anne’s Roman Catholic Secondary Modern School before it was demolished in 1999. The plot has remained vacant.
Outside of the city centre, Redrow Homes has proposed the construction of 21 homes on the site of the former Watergate School in Speke Road, with the demolition of the existing buildings on the plot.
Ah Redrow again – they seem to be a favourite of LCC. Watergate school – is this not now Much Woolton School which is still open? Do you mean the Sunflower centre which is owned by St Julies AKA the sisters of Notre Dame? Wonder will Elan get a look in now they are hunting for land in the south of the city.
