HBG launches Metro as ‘greenest’ office in Salford Quays
HBG Properties has completed its 72,500 sq ft speculative, BREEAM 'excellent' office building, Metro, in Salford Quays.
The £23m development on Trafford Road is believed to be the first such BREEAM accredited building in Salford Quays, and is the largest speculative office building in the Quays for a number of years.
The six-storey building includes water-saving features, reduced CO2 emissions and low energy consumption. Its lighting is controlled by brightness and motion sensors, which automatically adjust to daylight levels, and other environmental features include dedicated recycling stations, bicycle storage and cyclist shower and locker facilities.
The office also backs onto the Exchange Quay Metrolink station, although there are 227 car parking spaces at ground and first floor level.
Clive Perrin, HBG Properties' development director, said: "Environmental issues are becoming more important these days and forward thinking companies want to occupy 'very good' or 'excellent' BREEAM rated buildings in line with their corporate social responsibility policies.
"This is reflected in the quality of enquiries we have received and the positive feedback from viewings. We have submitted terms to various interested parties and are hopeful that we can announce our first letting success very soon."
Letting agents are DTZ and Canning O'Neill.
