Grosvenor Paddock Row completes
Carlyle Properties and Bride Hall Estates' £5m redevelopment of part of Grosvenor Shopping Centre in Chester is now open, with new retailers TK Maxx and Sports Direct on site with their shop fit-outs.
Pochin Construction was the contractor for Paddock Row, which sits between Pepper Street and St Michael's Square and has seen the 39,500 sq ft mall and its retail units reconfigured.
The scheme includes a modern glass-fronted atrium and square, improved sight lines and light levels, double-height shop fronts, and the development of a 23,000 sq ft store for TK Maxx and a 16,500 sq ft unit for Sports Direct.
TK Maxx has taken the unit on a 15-year lease, while Sports Direct has agreed a 10-year lease. Both retailers are due to open in June.
Julie Webb, centre manager at Grosvenor, said: "The introduction of our new double storey, glass façade allows plenty of natural light to flood into the centre, banishing thoughts of dull, artificially lit spaces and offering a seamless connection between the indoor shopping space and the vibrant city outside."
