Graham to build Irish World Heritage Centre hotel

Graham has been named as main contractor on a new 135-bedroom hotel next to the Irish World Heritage Centre in Cheetham Hill, Manchester.

Altrincham-based architect Project 3 was engaged in 2013 to develop plans for a hotel to accommodate visitors to the centre at peak times, including during weddings and festivals. A planning application was submitted in February this year, and approved in May.

Graham has now been picked to build the 40,000 sq ft, four-storey hotel on a 1.8 acre plot next to the heritage centre on Irish Town Way, which hosts music, dance, education, weddings and business events.

The proposals also include 110 parking spaces, an improved frontage along Queens Road, and extensive landscaping.

It is understood that Graham is due to start on site early next year. Eagle Rock Investments is the client.

GVA acted as planner on the scheme, with SK Transport as transport consultant.
