Furness Enterprise funds Barrow retail campaign
Regeneration agency Furness Enterprise is launching a £100,000 marketing programme aimed at boosting footfall for independent retailers in Barrow town centre during the recession.
The Barrow Marketing Support Scheme will provide the services of an independent retail marketing consultant to work with retailers to discuss ways of improving footfall, gaining more customers and options such as re-branding or new promotions.
In addition, a discretionary marketing grant could assist with 50% of the costs, providing the total grant does not exceed £5,000.
Val Robinson, funding and new start manager at Furness Enterprise, said: "Independent retail shops in Barrow have some fantastic products. We want to use this marketing scheme to help their owners get the message out to a wider potential range of customer by combining the shop owner's knowledge and that of market experts and practical help to promote their products.
"This is an excellent opportunity for town centre based independent retailers to obtain the services of an experienced retail consultant to assist them with improving the marketing of their business as well as having access to discretionary financial assistance to implement the changes proposed by the consultant."
The funding has been provided through Barrow Borough Council's Working Neighbourhood Fund and can assist independent retailers in the town centre. The programme is available to new and existing retail outlets.
