Forrest starts on Elliot Group’s £100m Aura
Bolton-based contractor Forrest has started work on Elliot Group’s £100m Aura development in Liverpool, which will include more than 1,000 student beds and 142 apartments on the site of the former Erskine Industrial Estate.
The mixed-use development, designed by Falconer Chester Hall, reaches 14 storeys in height and includes a residents’ gym, a bar, and study areas for students. Plans were approved in February last year, while Forrest was appointed in October.
The 1,007 student flats are aimed at key workers and students at the neighbouring Royal Hospital next door, while the apartments are for rent.
The professional team also includes Zerum as planner, and work is due to complete by August 2020.
Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group said: “We expect our residents to be very discerning and we’ve put a great deal of focus on issues such as public realm and materials. This is a gateway development for the Knowledge Quarter and we’re conscious of needing to set the bar high.”
The scheme is the latest Forrest has started for Elliot Group, with work already under way at The Residence, a 34-storey apartment complex in Salford. Place North West also revealed Forrest was one of two contractors shortlisted for Elliot’s £250m Infinity scheme, including towers of 39, 33, and 27 storeys.
Forrest’s expansion into Liverpool has also seen it secure a deal to build Regenda and Peel’s £21m Plaza 1821 on Princes Dock. The scheme started on site last year.
