Done announces Salford PRS scheme
Betfred founder Fred Done has submitted plans for a 380-apartment private residential scheme at the junction of Trinity Way and Blackfriars in Salford.
Done's company FICM has lodged the proposals with Salford City Council. The bookie-turned-developer said he wants the high quality apartments and town houses to be a lasting legacy to his home city.
Designed by 5plus Architects, the Trinity scheme will deliver a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments across two blocks, with the grade 2-listed Black Friar Pub currently on the site absorbed into the development. The pub would become the main entrance into the scheme and provide communal facilities such as a resident's party room.
There will be five town houses with front doors on Garden Street and a new public square with seating and an orchard.
Law firm Crawfords, which currently occupies one of the buildings on the site, would move to offices on the ground floor fronting Trinity Way.
Jon Matthews, director at 5plus, said: "Residential design in the North West is entering a new phase based on quality and from first principles we have designed a place to live.
"As well as incorporating high quality materials, private space, public space and a new lease of life for the Black Friar pub, the development is a piece of urban design. There is scale to Trinity Way, a new square and front doors and activity on every street."
no one mentioned in this press release has ever been involved in a residential development.

So what does not having been involved in residential got to do with anything. Everyone wasn’t involved in residential before they did their first scheme. Good luck with the job to all involved .

Would you be so blase if they were planning a heart and lung operation, Roberto?

With respect, a residential development isn’t as "critical" as heart/lung surgery. To extend and improve your analogy, I’d be happy with a finger surgeon operating on my toe. They’re designed slightly differently and serve different functions, but are fundamentally similar. Will Alsop hadn’t done a resi scheme before Chips and look at… Oh, wait, maybe you’re right.

How is betting and developing similar to fingers and toes?

Don’t think anyone said anything about betting? Comparison was surgery and developing. Probably not very.
