Devereux growth continues with Manchester launch

Specialist architect to the bioscience, healthcare and education sectors, Devereux, has opened an office in Bruntwood's Lowry House as it seeks to establish itself as a top 20 UK practice.

Devereux merged with North East rival Dewjo'c Architects earlier this year and now employs 250 people, split between the UK and overseas offices.

The Manchester office is headed by associate Caroline Richards who relocated from London. Richards said existing projects in Rotherham, Bishop Auckland and Kettering will be handled from the Manchester studio.

Richards is now recruiting for technicians to join her in Lowry House and plans to have five staff in year one and ten by the end of year two.

The firm currently does not have North West projects on its books but is targeting hospital and university commissions in the region.

Devereux is owned by Irish engineering consultancy PM Group and already has offices in Plymouth, Rugby, Newcastle, Stockton on Tees and London. The firm's portfolio includes work for the £1bn Barts & Royal London Hospital, the British Museum and King's College, London.

  • A launch party for Devereux Manchester will take place at the Manchester Art Gallery on 18 November, by invitation only.
