CPUK confirms deal for £12m Salford apartments
The Skelmersdale-based contractor has confirmed a deal with Forshaw to deliver 86 apartments fronting the river Irwell in Salford.
Place North West first revealed the company was preferred bidder for the project in January this year and the deal has now been confirmed after a two-stage tender process.
CPUK will deliver a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments along with a gym and residents’ lounge on the site off Worrall Street. Stretching to nine storeys at its highest point, the block is one of three proposed as part of a wider 232-apartment development.
The block features a brick façade with green glazed brick slips to the rear walls of its balconies, along with zinc cladding at roof level. The build is expected to take 18 months.
It will be CPUK’s second project with developer Forshaw having also delivered179 student accommodation units in Huddersfield for the company.
Also in Salford, CPUK is preferred bidder for an 142-apartments scheme at Gresham Mill, designed by AFL Architects, while other contracts in the region include a £30m apartment project in Stockport for developer Urbanize Homes, which reaches 13 storeys.
Steve Burke, managing director of CPUK said: “Forshaw is a developer that takes unloved land and forgotten buildings and turns them into the unique spaces that bring land back to life.
“We have a lot of experience working on difficult sites and this project fits well with our expertise in residential new builds.”
