Clegg begins search for TechNorth team
The deputy prime minister's aim of establishing a digital agency to recreate the success of Tech City in Shoreditch in the North of England has moved a step closer.
Tech City UK, the publicly funded organisation which oversees Tech City in London, home to hundreds of start-ups lured by incentives including business rate relief agreed with government and local councils, is advertising for the management team to launch TechNorth.
The five roles on offer are head of TechNorth, head of marketing, head of inward investment, head of digital skills, head of startup ecosystem.
Deputy PM Nick Clegg announced plans in October 2014 to create the TechNorth programme as part of Tech City UK. TechNorth "will lead the creation and implementation of a strategy that will accelerate the development of the North's digital ecosystem helping attract talent, entrepreneurs, venture capital and inward investment to Northern England."
