Castle Green proposes 340-home Warrington development
Spanning more than 50 acres, Thelwell Heys would feature 102 affordable properties in Grappenhall.
Castle Green Homes has lodged plans to build 340 homes on a site bounded by Bridgewater Canal to the south and the Trans Pennine Trail to the north.
Around 30 acres of the site, which is allocated for housing in Warrington’s local plan, will be developed.
The remaining 20 acres is earmarked as public open space, including the creation of a buffer between the new homes and the grade two-listed building that gives the site its name, which is located at the centre of the site.
Castle Green is proposing a mix of houses – from one-bed apartments to five-bedroom houses – and tenures. 238 dwellings will be available for market sale and 102 are designated as affordable homes – a mix of affordable rent, First Homes, and shared ownership. Three plots are being made available for self-build projects.
Castle Green Homes chief executive Gwyn Jones said: “The site of our proposed new homes in Thelwall Heys, Grappenhall, was allocated for housing in the Warrington Local Plan.
“We’ve worked closely with Warrington Council while drawing up plans for the development. Our planned 340 homes will be a real benefit to the area, providing high quality, energy efficient homes for local people. Subject to a planning agreement, we would also commit to funding local community facilities and infrastructure to support the growth of the neighbourhood.”
Turley is advising on planning and eScape Urbanists is leading on design.
