Artform secures Whalley Range approval
Artform Architects has secured consent for a four-home development at the site of derelict English Martyr’s Tennis Club in Whalley Range.
The 17,000 sq ft site, which contains a former clubhouse and tennis courts, is surrounded by houses on the neighbouring Alness Road and Woodacre. The four bedroom, two-storey houses are to take inspiration from the nearby Georgian and Victorian neighbourhoods with light-coloured buff brick, pitched roofs, slate coverings, and bay windows.
The former clubhouse will be demolished to form access to the site, with the homes due to be built on the former tennis courts.
Mai Construction is the developer. The main contractor is yet to be confirmed, but work is set to start on site by the end of 2019.
The project has been given the go-ahead by Manchester City Council under delegated powers.
