Another £8m Kickstart aid for new homes
A further five housing projects in ther North West will benefit from the latest round of Homes & Communities Agency Kickstart funding.
The region's schemes, named among 45 across the UK, are:
- Liverpool: Hartopp and Viennese, Lovell Partnerships, £3.4m, 67 homes
- Tameside: Grove Road, Countryside Properties, £696,000, 58 homes
- Salford: Hulton Square Phase 2 & 3, LPC Living, £1.86m, 97 homes
- Hyndburn: Project Phoenix, Keepmoat Homes, £1.78m, 64 homes
- Manchester: City East Phase 1, Gleeson Regeneration, £230,000, 28 homes
Housing minister John Healey visited Salford on Thursday and met the first workers back on site of a stalled housing project at Countryside's New Broughton development, which received £7m Government cash to get back on track.
He said: "After over a year at a standstill, building work at New Broughton is back on track to provide over 160 homes for first time buyers, social tenants and market buyers alike. I'm determined to continue to support projects like this across the country so I am pleased to give the green light to £153m for a further 45 sites today. This means that 136 developments have now been given the go ahead – creating 7500 jobs. This is real help now when it is needed most."
Housebuilders in the North West have received a total of £62m in Kickstart cash since June to deliver 1,750 homes.
