Allied London works up fresh plans for stalled Manchester resi
Isle of Man-headquartered Kirindolam has been granted a period of exclusivity to complete the acquisition of DeTrafford’s failed No1 Castlefield development, with Allied London attached to the scheme as development manager.
DeTrafford was granted planning permission for the £75m, 420-home No1 Castlefield off Ellesmere Street in Manchester in November 2017, but almost nine years on, the site remains undeveloped.
A move into residential development for Allied London could finally break the inertia.
The developer, which is better known for large-scale commercial projects such as Spinningfields and St John’s, has been working on the project for several months, according to Place North West sources.
It is understood that a planning application for a revised scheme is expected in the new year.
Allied was contacted for comment.
The purchaser, Kirindolam 8 Limited, is connected to the scheme’s lender Endless Bridge by way of a common director, according to the latest report published by Interpath.
Interpath has previously stated that Endless lent £9.8m to DeTrafford’s No1 Castlefield vehicle in 2018. The loan has ballooned to £37.4m as a result on the developer’s failure to repay it.

I loved the design of the original scheme. I really hope they don’t change this too drastically and lose all the interesting features.

Hope they built the consented scheme, as it looks pretty good

I would bet a large amount that AL won’t build a single thing on this plot.
