Kingswood draws up plans for 149 Blackburn homes

Earmarked for land off Horden Rake, the developer’s proposal marks the next phases of its wider Green Hills development in the Feniscowles area.

The site is allocated for residential development in Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Gib Lane Masterplan, which covers a 136-acre plot south of Blackburn’s town centre, with Kingswood delivering hundreds of homes across the Green Hills site.

The housing mix for this stage, phases eight and nine of the Green Hills scheme, is broken down into 23 two-bed, 69 three-bed, and 57 four-bedroom homes, with a mixture of side or front parking with each property.

Of those homes, 53 would be made available for affordable rent, 59 would be allocated for shared ownership, and 37 would be sold on the open market. The affordable homes will be offered through a partnership with Together Housing Group.

It is intended for the development to become a ‘lifetime neighbourhood’ catering to first-time buyers, downsizers, and growing families according to Kingswood Homes’ planning statement.

The plans feature a large public open space, wildlife retention ponds, and designated pedestrian footpaths and cycle paths to link the proposal to the other Green Hills developments under construction.

Access to the development would be provided via Horden Rake.

Blackburn with Darwen Council will decide on the proposals at a future date.

The project team features Enzygo, SLR, Clement Acoustics, LK Consult, PDP Associates, and DEP Landscape Architecture.
