Aldi secures permission in Bangor
Bampton Property Group has obtained planning consent from Gwynedd County Council to build an 13,000 sq ft Aldi in Bangor.
The plans were recommended for approval with ward member Cllr Gareth Roberts speaking in support of the scheme. Members of the planning committee voted unanimously to approve the proposals.
The store will be located at the former Blakemore cash and carry on Caernarfon Road. There will be 113 car parking spaces along with improvements to the car park for the neighbouring Dunelm store.
Mark Newton, director of Total Property Solutions and acting development manager for Brampton Property Group, said: “We are now looking forward to starting our initial work on site and getting ready for construction, which will begin in the second quarter of 2020.”
A spokesperson for Aldi said: “This new store in Bangor is part of our ambitious growth strategy that will see around 1,200 in operation by 2025, whilst also improving our existing community store for a better customer experience.
“We look forward to the Bampton Property Group delivering the new store and expect it to open in 2021.”
The project team included Total Property Solutions, JLL Planning, BECG, architects The Harris Partnership, and highways consultant Connect Consultants.
