Northern Moor site set for housing development
A former retirement living building will be replaced with 34 homes under plans put forward by Wythenshawe Community Housing Group and architect BTP.
On a prominent location along Sale Road, Alfred Morris Court was built in the 1970s by Manchester City Council, and was owned by Parkway Green Housing Trust. The building is due to be demolished, with residents transferred to Village 135 in Wythenshawe, a purpose-built apartment scheme by WCHG, as well as other locations.
In its place, the housing provider is proposing to build a mix of 23 one and two-bed flats for social rent in a block reaching four storeys at its highest point, along with six semi-detached houses for shared ownership, and five detached houses for outright sale.
The scheme is likely to be delivered through WCHG’s construction arm, Garden City Design & Build.
WCHG has a number of projects under way in the area, including a £2.4m project on a site owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese off Woodhouse Lane. It is also on site with Willmott Dixon at a £20m project on a nine-acre site behind Manchester Enterprise Academy.
