Pair return from Norfox ride
Property developer Ian Hall pedalled his way to Posnan in Poland in tandem with his friend Jim Rochford to return just in time for property charity Norfox's summer barbecue at Dukes 92 in Castlefield, Manchester on Thursday night.
Together the tandem bike ride and summer social raised £2,500 for Didsbury's Francis House hospice for terminally ill children.
Despite the rainy weather, over 100 property people attended the BBQ event sponsored by solicitors Goodman Harvey and Williams Tarr to help raise more money to help Francis House build a new £3.5m wing of seven bedrooms for the parents of the children they help.
Hall said: "Jim and I clocked up 800 km on this ride and had a fantastic tour of Holland and Germany before we got to Berlin and then we got the train to Posnan to meet 30,000 Irish fans to watch the Ireland v Italy game.
"It all started because we wanted to watch England play in the European Football Championships, but the draw saw them playing in Ukraine not Poland- a bit further to pedal too. Instead we watched the English victory in a bar in Hanover surrounded by Germans but a good time was had by all.
"The saddle sores and tiredness were all worth it for us to help to raise this money for such a great cause so thanks to all who sponsored us and to everyone who supported the Norfox summer fund-raising event."
