Ian Simpson Architects changes name to include Haugh
The Manchester-based practice has changed its name to Simpson Haugh & Partners at Companies House, paving the way for a potential rebrand to reflect the equal roles of founding partners Ian Simpson and Rachel Haugh.
Simpson and Haugh established the firm in 1987 and have since grown it to become one of the most dominant architectural studios in the city. Clients include Manchester City Council, Allied London, Ask Property Developments and Urban Splash. Nationally, current projects include the 900,000 sq ft redevelopment of Battersea Power Station in London.
According to Companies House, the name change was officially certified on 30 August. The practice continues to trade as Ian Simpson Architects.
The practice is expected to become a limited liability partnership, to include existing partners within the company.
The firm is based in Castlefield, and has an office in London.
Ian Simpson Architects said in a statement issued to Place North West: "The name change publicly acknowledges the unique and significant contribution that co-founding partner, Rachel Haugh, has made to the successful growth of the practice.
"The name also reflects the anticipated wider ownership of the practice, and recognises the practice's senior leadership team, so vital to supporting Ian and Rachel in developing the next phase of the practice's evolution.
"The practice is set to build on its significant successes over the last 27 years, expanding both creatively and commercially with landmark buildings in London, Manchester and Europe."
A bit late in the day should have been done a long time ago.
