£500m Mayfield contest approaches
Mayfield Partnership, a consortium of London & Continental Railways, Manchester City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester, is seeking a partner for the comprehensive redevelopment of 24 acres next to Piccadilly station.
Law firm Eversheds is advising the partnership and has launched “a pre-procurement market sounding exercise to inform the procurement process to be followed to select a private sector developer partner.”
Mayfield Partnership will enter into a joint venture arrangement to take forward the comprehensive regeneration of the Mayfield site, along the lines site out in the council’s Mayfield Strategic Regeneration Framework, published in 2009 and revised in 2014.
The development will contain residential, commercial, retail, cultural, hotel and public realm. The cost of the development is estimated to be around £500m.
Interested parties have until 24 June to take part in the market testing exercise.
Mayfield has for many years been the subject of speculation about major Government office relocations, most recently at the start of this year.
