Urban Green boosts NQ team

Manchester-based design and environmental consultancy Urban Green has appointed designer Rob Aspray from Capita, taking the company’s headcount from five to 16 since its relocation to the Northern Quarter in October.

Aspray brings more than 10 years’ experience and is working with clients such as Redrow to support its development and planning proposals through a range of digital visualisation tools including a 4k enabled drone.

In the last 10 months Urban Green has made appointments across landscape architecture and urban design, arboriculture and ecology.

Also from Capita, Matt Taylor joined as associate and Amy Grenaghan as senior landscape architect, bringing experience in both public and private sector project design and delivery. Chantelle Martin, formerly of Ryder Consultants, joined as senior landscape architect in response to increased demand in the landscape planning field.

Martin is supported by Kevin Swindells who is currently undertaking a degree in environmental impact assessments.

The consultancy also appointed Wroclaw University graduate Maciej Szumowicz as assistant landscape architect following an internship programme, alongside Katie Maude who recently graduated from Sheffield University.

Urban Green is currently providing design and environmental consultancy services for a number of developments such as Leisure Lakes at Mere Brow, new stadia at Scunthorpe United FC, a masterplan for a mixed-use commercial and residential development in Liverpool, the renovation of the grade two-listed Brierfield Mill, and detailed design of a Homes & Communities Agency-led 330-unit scheme at Cottam, Preston.

Martin King, director of Urban Green, said: “I am pleased to welcome all recent appointments to the Urban Green team. We have focused on building a core of repeat work with trusted clients and through their support we have continued to evolve our reputation as a practice that thinks differently.

“We have a number of exciting new commissions across all sectors which demonstrates a real positivity in the marketplace. To have such high-calibre additions to the team is fantastic for our clients and us. We feel the mix of skills and experience they bring, along with the right attitude and approach, will enable the practice to achieve its continued ambitions for sustainable growth.”
