Grosvenor brings Jamie Oliver restaurant to Liverpool One

Following months of rumours it has been confirmed that celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is to open his first Jamie's Italian restaurant in the North West in Liverpool One.

The 6,251 sq ft restaurant, trading on the ground floor with a mezzanine and situated opposite John Lewis in Paradise Place, will open in June this year.

Simon Blagden, managing director of Jamie's Italian, said: "Liverpool One is the perfect location for a Jamie's Italian. Nowhere is more appropriate for our concept of creating 'neighbourhood' restaurants, inspired by the 'Italian table' where people relax, share, and enjoy each other's company, than Liverpool, a city famed for its character and warm welcome.

Jamie Oliver added: "When people eat at a 'Jamie's Italian', I want them to really get into the food, maybe try something they wouldn't normally try, but always be safe in the knowledge that they're eating good stuff, prepared with love."

Miles Dunnett, head of asset management at Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, said: "Jamie's Italian is a fantastic addition to Liverpool One's dining offer and is yet another reason why Liverpool One has become the region's dominant destination for a great day out. Liverpool One successfully combines shopping with leisure, entertainment and, in the wider city context, cultural and arts facilities. Jamie's Italian is a natural fit and will be a great success."

This is very good news, I wonder if Jamie will be there himself at any time. Work colleagues agree this will be a welcome addition to the other resturants in Liverpool One.

A group of 9 of us went on Friday before the open day for an unexpected trial meal as we were staying at Liverpool One apartments and it was absolutely fantastic – had tried previously to book but it hadn’t yet opened, so it was a special day….Well done Jamie 10/10, it was brill and will def go again

Sharran my friend was taken to the restaurant for his birthday, on a week day, and said it was terrible. They were told to queue outside and sit on the outside seating because they didn’t book in advance but they took that as a good sign because it seemed to show it was popular but when they got inside it was practically empty. He said his mate ordered the Truffle Salami as a starter for £7 and when it arrived all he had was four pieces of salami with oil over them. A portion of chips cost £3.50 and he ordered ‘multiple coloured’ carrots and every carrot was orange! And that cost £5 as well. He did say the sirloin steak looked good although that was for two people, because it cost £50, but he said it could probably be served for one. As it was only grilled meat he wasn’t paying £50! He did understand the food is not Michelin star food but he also said overall the service and food was mediocre and there a far more better restaurants out there…Don’t be sucked in by the whole ‘Jamie Oliver’ sell because my friend said nothing that was served on each of his or his mates’ plates looked anything like what Mr Oliver cooks on the telly! Wonder how Marco Pierre White will – excuse the pun – dish up when he opens his restaurant chain in Chapel Street next year?!

Don’t eat there. They make out they are full by getting you to queue outsaide – and when you get in it’s half empty…. The food is overpriced and not that good…. There are far better places to eat!
